House Cup & School Sport
St John’s Catholic College provides a range of opportunities for students to engage in academic and physical activities through the House Cup. Whereby, student participation and performance earn House points. The Champion House receives a reward day at the end of the academic year. Students are expected to participate in the House Cup, and contribute to the development of a culture of ambition, commitment, dignity and unity.
Carnivals:
The College holds three whole school carnivals across the year. Attendance is compulsory and students are expected to be attired in their House Uniform:
- Swimming Carnival – Parap Pool
- Athletics Carnival – Marrara
- Cross Country Carnival – 3km Course
House Cups:
In addition, a number of House Cup activities are scheduled each year, including:
- Spelling Bee
- Public Speaking / Debating
- Chess
- Science Week activities
- Trivia / Quiz
- Interhouse Basketball
- Interhouse Soccer
- Interhouse Volleyball
Gala Days:
Students in Years 7 – 11 also have the opportunity to participate in the Darwin Region School Sports. Criteria for participating includes an assessment of:
- Positive student conduct
- 90%+ school attendance
- Up to date with academic workload
- Positive participation in team meetings and training
