St John’s Catholic College is a vibrant, co-educational secondary school in the heart of Darwin, nestled beside the lush Darwin Botanical Gardens. Guided by our motto, Fortes in Fide – Strong in Faith, St John’s inspires young people to grow in faith, knowledge, and character.

We provide a high-quality Catholic education for Years 7–12, including an Intensive English Unit for international and new arrival students. As a CRICOS-registered school, St John’s proudly welcomes learners from across the world, enriching our diverse and inclusive community.

Founded in 1960 by Bishop J.P. O’Loughlin, the College has a proud and evolving history. From its beginnings as a boys’ college to its merger with Salonika Convent College after Cyclone Tracy and its decades as a boarding school, St John’s continues to adapt to meet the needs of its students and community.

As we approach our 70th anniversary, St John’s looks confidently to the future. Guided by the Horizons 2030 vision and in partnership with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we are reimagining Catholic education—honouring our Cathedral heritage and embracing contemporary, innovative learning.

Inspired by Saint John the Evangelist and the charism of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) and the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH), St John’s is a Christ-centred community grounded in the values of Compassion, Courage, Welcome, and Truth.

As a Catholic Education Northern Territory school, St John’s is committed to the Learning Alliance.
